School choirs
We currently have three choirs operating in our school. The aim of these groups is to encourage a love of singing, as well as developing the skills and confidence that come with regular performance. Each choir is open to all interested students, and no audition is necessary.
The Junior Choir caters for Years 1 and 2, the Intermediate Choir for Years 3 and 4, while the Senior Choir is made up of Year 5 and 6 students.
These groups aim to develop the children’s singing skills from in tune unison singing, through to partner songs and canons, and moves through to use songs with a wider range of notes and a variety of harmonic devices. We perform on school assemblies, community events, state-wide competitions and also host our own concerts for parents and our local community members.
Marimba groups
Our Marimba program was introduced in 2013 and we currently have two groups. The marimba is a tuned percussion instrument that is much like a xylophone. In these groups, students will develop a greater awareness of ensemble performance and a deeper understanding of the musical keyboard, while having a lot of fun along the way.
Instrumental Music
Instrumental Music tuition is available for stringed instruments and brass, woodwind and percussion. Lessons are held during school time. An instrument hire fee and music charge is included. A commitment to an ensemble or band is required and rehearsals of these groups are generally held before school.

Students in Year 3 have the opportunity to be selected for a position in our strings program. The selection process includes a music aptitude survey as well as a demonstrated commitment and satisfactory achievement within the Classroom Music program, and takes place at the end of Year 2. Tuition is held in small groups during school hours, and students progress through the various string ensembles (Beginner Strings, Intermediate String and Senior Strings) as they are ready. Participation in ensembles is a requisite to being enrolled in this program. Instruments offered include violin, viola, cello and double bass.
